Label: LunaTone / Rise Records
Released: 27th May 2016

Rating: ★★★[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]Rockabilly is a strange genre: it takes records that you associate with older generations and gives them some distortion and attitude. With Tiger Army, the genre’s brought to its metaphorical knees. Bringing a pure and downright catchy sound, not too dissimilar to previous efforts, ‘V•••’ is just about everything you could want.

Rolling drums, thumping upright bass and crunching guitars open the album, with ‘Prelude: Ad Victoriam’ flowing straight into ‘Firefall’ carrying on the same vicious, urgent instrumentation while Nick 13’s vocals bring a pureness to the mix.

The thirteen tracks are an emotional experience, aided by the use of strings and falsetto singing - but the rawness that captures you at the start is somewhat forgotten as the album progresses. ‘Knife’s Edge’ is the closest they get to recreating that initial shock, and its defiance is upheld by following track ‘Devil Lurks On The Road’, but ultimately the calmer aspects overrule. Definitely a pleasant listen however.
