One band who refuse to be dampened by the pouring rain are Ontario punks Billy Talent, who give the Main Stage all the energy they’ve got. For their part, the soggy crowd give a fair amount back, with a decent number turning out to headbang and shout along with Canadians.
Benjamin Kowalewicz is an insistent frontman, demanding more from band and audience, and he deserves credit for bringing some life to a sodden field.
They air a few tracks from recent release ‘Afraid of Heights’, but the biggest cheers are reserved for their pair of early 00s hits ‘Red Flag’ which manages to get a few people moshing, and the emo-anthem ‘Fallen Leaves’. Similarly to Sum 41 yesterday, Billy Talent are a reminder of Reading’s past, but a band who still provide the energy to justify their place on the bill.
