To celebrate their co-headline tour and to take advantage of the fact both The Wonder Years and Motion City Soundtrack had new albums out around the same time, the two bands decided to rework each others music.
So Motion City Soundtrack’s Justin Pierre got the instrumental version of ‘A Song For Patsy Cline‘ without ever hearing The Wonder Years’ original and then wrote his own lyrics. You can listen to ‘(Sort Of) A Song For Patsy Cline‘ below, via Brooklyn Vegan.
The song is taken from a split 7″ and also features Dan ‘Soupy’ Campbell taking on Motion City Soundtrack’s ‘It’s A Pleasure To Meet You‘.
We’re excited to announce a very limited Tour 7” with Motion City Soundtrack. If you purchase(d) a VIP Package from TWY or MCS, you will receive a code which will give you first dibs to purchase the 7" on Oct 9th. General On Sale goes up on the 12th. It will be first come first serve and while supplies last as it’s very limited. You can pick up VIP/GA Tickets here – http://bit.ly/J09ve4. Not your standard split, this release had us trade instrumental versions of songs off our then-upcoming releases "No Closer to Heaven" and "Panic Stations". Given only the song titles and having never heard the original versions, Dan from TWY and Justin Pierre from MCS were charged with the task of writing their own lyrics and melodies to create songs that blur the lines between the two artists.
