Some bands grab hold of a special place in your heart. It’s not just that they’re especially brilliant musically - they’ve also got another, almost more important quality. You want to root for them. You and them vs the world.
PUP are one of those bands. Their most recent album ‘Morbid Stuff’ is predictably great, so we were cock-a-hoop to head over to their native Canada to hang out in some of their favourite haunts and chat all about it for the cover of the new issue of Upset. 16-pages of chat, in fact. Oh yeah, it’s big.
Elsewhere this month we’ve got other long term faves. Brutus’ second album already has five shiny Upset stars under its hefty belt, so we're delighted to dive in deep as they set themselves up as one of rock's strongest powerhouses.
Andy Black-slash-Biersack-slash-you-know-what-we-mean has returned with a second solo album too, and he's taking no prisoners. There's also the considerable star power of The Damned Things, the upstart energy of Fontaines D.C., a year full of exciting things for Dan 'Soupy' Campbell, and the mighty Tacocat. Loads to get your teeth into.
Add to that an introduction to your new favourite band, Hot Milk, reports from down the front with Twenty One Pilots, Yungblud and SWMRS, Deaf Havana's Teenage Kicks and a dump of essential new info from Seaway, and you'll be wanting to get your hands on a copy.
The new issue of Upset is shipping now. You can order a copy from us above, subscribe for twelve months here, or pick up a copy from record shops and venues nationwide.
