Watch Biffy Clyro bring in 2016 with new track ‘On A Bang’

Biffy Clyro played their first show in over a year last night, as part of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations. As part of their set, they dropped a brand new song for the first time.

‘On A Bang’ definitely isn’t for the feint of heart, with it’s refrain of “why can’t you fucking do better” and a pleasingly thundering breakdown. As a first taster of their forthcoming 2016 album, it’s definitely A Good Sign.

We’ve been spending our New Year’s Day morning trawling the internet for footage. You can check out a couple of passable quality recordings of the track below.

We already know Biffy have been in the studio with Rich Costey. Posting on his Instagram Rich, who produced Muse‘s ‘Absolution‘ and ‘Black Holes and Revelations‘ as well as albums by Death Cab For Cutie, CHVRCHES and Frank Turner, shared a photo of Simon Neil with the caption #MonTheBiff

As to when that new album will drop – the band are already booked for festivals this summer. We’d expect by then we’ll have heard something from them. The wait for more starts here.

Feature: We can’t wait to have Biffy Clyro back. Here’s why.

Update: Have a few more basically identical recordings. Just so you get the idea properly.
