It’s been just over a year since PVRIS released the burning flag of ‘St. Patrick’ and, while they’re currently tearing it up on The Warped Tour, today they’ve released a stark video for the brooding hammer of ‘Holy’.
‘Holy’ carries on the trend laid out in the previous videos for ‘White Noise’ and ‘My House’, all fleeting images and grayscale charm.
Earlier this year vocalist Lynn Gunn explained that, “You need to be able to paint the picture that goes along with your music. I like that we’re able to create a whole story,” before adding, “the visual aspect of it, videos and band merch, are super important to me and the band. We like being able to express ourselves in as many ways as we can. I feel like the visuals and the music go hand in hand.”
In an interview with Billboard, who premiered the video, Lynn goes on to say that ‘Holy’ is, “One of the most personal and honest songs on the record.” before revealing “It’s pretty hard to see, but there’s one shot in the video of me shirtless that overlaps with the one of me clothed throughout. I was a little nervous while shooting this shot, so Brian took his shirt off and stood next to the camera to make me feel comfortable.”
PVRIS are currently on Vans Warped Tour and will be returning to the UK for the Reading & Leeds Festivals before heading to Australia with Circa Survive.
