Leeds four-piece NARCS premiere new video for ‘Pig’

Leeds four-piece NARCS release their new single ‘Pig’ this month through Clue Records – and this afternoon they’ve released the video for it, watch below first on Upset.

“‘Pig’ started off as an anecdote we heard about a chance meeting between a man and his childhood idol in a supermarket,” says guitarist Joe. “This idol was the reason the fella had gone into the same line of work (I think it was acting) and this guy was starstruck.

“When he finally plucked up the courage to go and speak to him, he noticed that the guy just had a crate of booze. He asked him: “Are you so-and-so?” And the guy didn’t even look up, he just said: “What’s left of him, yeah.”

“Then he took his booze and left, leaving the other bloke sort of crushed with disappointment but also really pissed off at this idol of his for being so blasé. So we went from there with that “what’s left of him/me” idea.”

Tomas Cummings, the artist who created the video with videographer Sean Pierce, adds: “When faced with an uncomfortable truth about someone or something, we often find ourselves facing – with grim certainty – the unavoidable feelings that are accompanied by such a discovery; anger, fear, shock and awe.

“Instead of using our memories to look for some sort of comfort, the mind often plays a self-destructive montage that further undermines your sense of self and purpose. A walking nightmare of conflicting self-hatred and anger becomes a reality, all the while the foundations of your own existence and ego crumble away into the void of your own creation.

“The mind is a funny thing eh?”

‘Pig’ will be released via 90 ‘Pig Crackers’ available at live shows, each containing a paper hat, joke, pig ornament and a download code for not only this, but a few other tracks too.
