A week until Reading & Leeds Festivals means there’s basically only a week of summer left. With September’s gloomy presence fast approaching, and because we had so much fun at out launch party, we thought we’d try and organise something to raise your spirits.
Partnering with the ever-excellent Venn Records (Milk Teeth, Gallows, Muskets) we’re off to The Old Blue Last on Sunday 6th September for an evening of brilliant music and we’d love for you to join us.
P.S. It’s free.
Fresh from the release of their ‘Inhale Exhale’ EP, Richa will be headlining the evening. Despite the record being a long time coming and having creatively moved beyond it, Richa are still able to transfix with their dark fantasy.
“In a way I look at the record retrospectively despite it being our latest record but that doesn’t emotionally hinder me when I play the songs now. I don’t actually find playing music cathartic at all, writing songs yes but not playing them. When I get off stage there’s no sense of release or calm. The songs are just as emotionally raw to me now as they have always been. That’s probably not very healthy but it’s the way it is.”
If you’re curious, you can stream the EP here.
Joining them on the bill is the frayed excellence of Ill, which features members of Dead Swans and Gnarwolves, and Nervus who, despite having only released two songs, are fast becoming one of our favourite new bands.
Richa, Ill and Nervus.
