Opeth are the latest band to launch their own beer

Opeth have jumped on the beer train, celebrating their 25th anniversary by teaming up with Leeds-based brewery, Northern Monk Brew Co. for their own ‘XXV Anniversary Imperial Stout’.

Apparently, it’s “brewed with 10 different malts for uttermost complexity of flavour – big, dark and full in mouthfeel, expect roasted flavours with underlying notes of rich chocolate, cinder toffee and coffee.”

The beer is limited to just 1700 660ml bottles at £12 each, with a pale ale to follow in 2016.

“Even if we’re musicians firstly, we’re beer drinkers secondly. Kind of. Let me rephrase: We love beer. We love good beer. We’ve turned into culinary connoisseurs of late,” says Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt.

“Not too much snobbery however. We just love good food and drinks.”
