While he’s over for Reading and Leeds with American Football, emo royalty Mike Kinsella will play a special, one-off solo set at London’s The Waiting Room on August 30th.
Billed as An Evening With Owen, the set promises “a special extended set spanning his whole catalog, something he’s yet to do at a UK show.” Tickets are on sale on Wednesday from here with no booking fees.
Speaking to Upset last week, Mike confided that both Owen and American Football have their own places in his heart. “They satisfy very different things, you know? We all have kids – the other guys, one of them’s a teacher, one of them’s got a full time job – so we’re all balancing regular life with these… I guess they’re almost vacations!” he laughed. “But we get to play music too.”
“It really makes sense – musically it’s a totally different type of thing. One is I’m playing guitar and singing, and there’s a whole bunch of people organising all the trips and taking care of everything and I’m just sort of along for the ride. But Owen, I can do what I want and it’s up to me to make stuff happen.” Pick up the September issue of Upset for the full chat with Mike – more details on that soon.
