Josh Farro talks going solo: “I didn’t really know if I could do this”

Ex-Paramore guitarist Josh Farro released his debut solo album ‘Walkways’ a few days ago – but when he set out on his own after leaving the band in 2010, he wasn’t as confident as you might think.

“I started writing music on my own just practicing,” he explains in the new issue of Upset. “I guess you could call it practicing singing. I would just write songs and see if I could do it. I didn’t really know if I could do this, but I gave it a shot.

“At first, it wasn’t exactly what I wanted to hear but I thought that there was some potential there and if I worked hard enough, then it could get to a place where I was happy with it. The more I wrote and the more I sang, the more I liked what I heard.”

Read more from Josh Farro in the new issue of Upset, out Wednesday 10th February. Pre-order your copy here – along with some back issues, if you like (they’re very good). It will also be available from our featured stockists.
