Guitarist Jay Maas leaves Defeater

Defeater have announced that their guitarist, Jay Maas has left the band owing to “personal & creative differences.”

In a series of two tweets, they explain: “Over the weekend it was decided to move forward as a band without the participation of Jay Maas due to personal & creative differences.

“All scheduled Defeater shows and tours will go on as planned and we wish Jay luck in his future endeavors. Thank you”

It’s not yet known whether Jay will be replaced, or if the band will continue as a four piece – Derek Archambault, Mike Poulin, Jake Woodruff and Joe Longobardi.

The band released their fourth album, ‘Abandoned’ earlier this summer. Read Upset’s review here.
