Gerard Way’s ‘The Umbrella Academy’ may be coming to TV

Gerard Way is a busy chap. Music, comics, all sorts of artistic pursuits – post My Chemical Romance he’s hardly been a creative slouch.

But now, there’s a possibility his output may find another platform, with news The Umbrella Academy could be heading to the small screen, due to a deal between Universal Cable Productions and Dark Horse Entertainment to produce scripted shows based upon the latter’s library of work.

Gerard’s The Umbrella Academy is one of four projects ‘in development’ as part of the deal. In an announcement release, a description explains: “Nine years after parting ways, the estranged members of the Umbrella Academy, a dysfunctional family of superheroes with bizarre powers, must figure out how to work together to save the world. Created by Gerard Way (The True Lies of the Fabulous Killjoys) and Gabriel Ba (Daytripper), Bluegrass films is also attached to executive produce.”
