Foo Fighters producer Butch Vig says Sonic Highways II could happen next summer

Foo Fighters producer Butch Vig has revealed in a new interview that there could be a second season of the band’s documentary series Sonic Highways as early as next year.

“I think there is going to be a Sonic Highways II, but it’s still in discussions right now,” he told Billboard‘s The Alt in Our Stars podcast.

“I know Dave [Grohl] and HBO are both really wanting to do it, but it’s going to be different. It’s not going to be the exact same format as the last album.

“If it happens, it’ll probably happen next summer.”

Each of the first eight episodes focussed on the musical history of a different American city, through a series of interviews by frontman Dave Grohl.

The series won two Emmys, for Outstanding Sound Editing For Nonfiction Programming (Single Or Multi-Camera) and Outstanding Sound Mixing For Nonfiction Programming (Single Or Multi-Camera).
