Enter Shikari and The Wonder Years to tour together in 2016

What do you do if you’re preparing to headline the second stage of Download, as well as playing six other festivals over the summer? If you’re Enter Shikari, you go ahead and announce a UK tour taking in mammoth sized venues. Not only that, but you tell the world you’re bringing one of the best pop-punk bands of the last decade along for the ride.

In what is bound to cause head-scratching and excitement in equal measure, Enter Shikari will be playing seven huge venues across the UK alongside The Wonder Years.

Starting at some reasonable sized venues in Scotland, the tour culminates with one of the band’s biggest non-festival headline shows to date, Alexandra Palace in London.

“It’s difficult to summon the words, we’re inexpressibly excited for these shows!” explains Enter Shikari frontman Rou Reynolds in their official statement.

“Before booking an ‘arena-sized’ tour we wanted to wait until we were able to book as many ‘flat-floored’ standing venues as possible up and down the UK, as there’s nothing rock ’n’ roll about sitting at a gig 100 meters from the stage. As much as is possible, these venues should feel like normal Shikari shows but swollen in size – the communal aspect of the shows should still stay intact.”

There’s more to be added to the bill too, according to Reynolds. “We’re really happy to have The Wonder Years out with us, too, and can’t wait to announce the full bill,” he teases.

Their promise to test venues to their limits doesn’t actually seem so ridiculous.
