Deftones were set to release a brand new album in September but it got pushed back. There was talk of a November release but as that month fast approaches, there’s been no word from the band about the followup to 2012’s ‘Koi No Yokan’.
While down in California to play the Aftershock Festival, drummer Abe Cunningham and turntablist/keyboardist Frank Delgado sat down with The Morning Blaze to talk shop. The full interview is available to watch below but the two things you need to know are.
–The album is set for release early 2016. Frank: “It’s going to come out in the new year…We had some dates that were already kind of tentative. The label actually came in and, for the first time ever, they were like, ‘Hey, do you guys wanna just take your time, make it right, and then we’ll release it in the first of the year?’ And we were, like, ‘Wow! Yeah. That sounds great.'”
–The album is being mixed right now. Abe: “It’s being mixed now. It started being mixed a couple weeks back. They’re actually going tomorrow to go down and listen to mixes and do things and… We’re mixing and we still are in the process of album title, artwork, song titles. We haven’t even got there yet, but the music’s done.”
Deftones are set to play London’s Wembley Arena on 21st November.
