Deftones’ Chino Moreno: “I’m not scared of anyone”

This month’s issue of Upset hits streets (and the internet) tomorrow, Wednesday 6th April, fronted by the ever-awesome Deftones who return with their latest album, ‘Gore’.

“I feel like this record – as opposed to some of our other records especially – has staying power,” frontman Chino Moreno explains in his band’s cover feature. “The more you listen to it the more you enjoy it.

“I have a short attention span so if I hear something and I figure it out really quick, I lose interest. That’s just me. That’s in music and that’s in… almost, in life.”

“I’m not scared of anyone,” he continues, touching on the legendarily good roster of bands they’ve toured with. “Maybe it’s a way of keeping us on our toes, but I’ll fucking play after anybody.

“We still have a lot of passion. When I hear some of our tunes, whether I like it or not, I can be tired as fuck, I can be not in the mood at all to even walk up on stage but once the music starts going, I feel overwhelmed with this passion just to let loose.”

You can read more from Deftones in April’s Upset, out tomorrow (Wednesday 6th April). The issue also features words with Weezer, Architects, Black Peaks, The Wonder Years, Boston Manor, Johnny Foreigner, and heaps more of our favourite acts. Order your copy here.
