The Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of American History has teamed up with Slayer to create a new mini-documentary examining the origins of thrash metal.
Slayer: The Origins of Thrash in San Francisco clocks in at six minutes long, and is part of the museum’s Places of (Musical) Invention video series – watch it below.
“Slayer is a lifestyle,” guitarist Kerry King says. “It’s not just a band. It’s not just the music. To these kids coming to the show tonight, they’re going to church.”
Slayer’s new album ‘Repentless’ will be released on 11th September. Watch more from the Places of (Musical) Invention series here.
