A new Arnaud Maguet-directed documentary about Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo is due for release this December via Hifiklub, available on DVD accompanied by a double 10″ vinyl soundtrack.
In Doubt, Shadow Him! was scored by Ranaldo himself alongside Hifklub, and recorded at Sonic Youth’s studio with further contributions from DNA’s Ikue Mori, Nels Cline, guitarist Alan Licht, composer Phill Niblock, Robin Rimbaud (aka Scanner), poet John Giorno and Velvet Monkeys’ Don Fleming.
Maguet has previously worked on I Am a Genius (And There’s Nothing I Can Do About It), about R. Stevie Moore, and Plans Make Gods Laugh (A Drift About Alain Johannes), about Queens of the Stone Age’s Alain Johannes.
Sonic Youth split in 2011, following the separation of Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon. Their most recent album was 2009’s ‘The Eternal’, while Ranaldo has since released two solo albums, 2012’s ’Between the Times and the Tides’ and 2013’s ’Last Night on Earth’.
