Last night (23rd July) Sum 41 played a comeback show at the Alternative Press Music Awards, which saw the return of former founding guitarist Dave “Brownsound” Baksh.
“Yes yes y’all I’m back,” he followed up on Instagram. “@sum41 thanks to all of the crew, band and fans for making me feel so welcome. I feel so thankful. #sum41 #skumfuks #apmas #family”
Dave left the band in 2006, telling MTV: “In a lot of ways, mainstream rock is a competition, like politics. The business is so soulless and so heartless, and it was so little about actually playing music, that I just lost interest.”
Sum 41 are currently raising funds via PledgeMusic for the release of a new album – the follow up to 2011’s ’Screaming Bloody Murder’, and their first since frontman Deryck Whibley’s stint in hospital a little over a year ago.
Welcome back, Dave!
