Leeds’ Black Surf are back with another video from their debut EP ‘Let’s Pretend It’s Summer’, out now via Cowboy Records. Another fun and fuzzed-up number, with a suitably lo-fi clip to match, check out ‘Bastard Man’ below – first on Upset.
“The video is a nod to those grungy and grainy 90s band videos that we grew up admiring,” the band explain. “We hadn’t really unveiled ourselves yet, so we thought what better way to do so with a super tongue in cheek song. This is who we are and what we look like right now, a little uneasy and awkward but enjoying the ride.
“The video was shot at The Penthouse Studios (Home of The Reacharounds band) by Giannis Kilpreos, who’s done a whole load of awesome video’s for some great bands we know like Narcs and Allusondrugs to name a few. He really seems to capture what each band is channeling in this second wave of northern fuzzy grungy pop, so we snapped him while we could.”
You can also find the band’s video for ‘Sink’, taken from the same release, here. Black Surf are currently working on new material and a tour for this year and next, with an EP launch to be held on 16th September at the Brudenell in Leeds with Mad Love, The Reacharounds and False Advertising.
