A few weeks back, Biffy Clyro gave us our first proper audio insight into their seventh studio album ‘Ellipsis‘ with ‘Wolves of Winter‘. Well now the track has a grandiose yet bonkers new video. Check it out below.
Yeah, there’s a lot going on. “This track is seriously big and called for a video to match,” explains director Chris Boyle. “So we decided there was only one thing for it – a psychedelic shape-shifting journey of woman and wolf that blasts from the beginning of time to the distant future.”
‘Ellipsis’ is set for release July 8th and, according to frontman Simon Neil, “It’ll be leaner and meaner than the last – no orchestras,” he promises. “This album is going to be the opposite of cinematic. It’s quite dirty! We’ve taken a lot of influence from recent hip-hop records, like the latest A$AP Rocky – they’re so fucking good because they’ve got really grimy, dirty, horrible sounds with beautiful vocals, or vice versa. We’re trying to get that balance of things teetering on the edge of chaos the entire time. It’s going to sound like Biffy, but it’s about ‘rocking’ instead of ‘rock’.”
The band have also revealed the cover art to ‘Ellipsis’. It looks like this and has caused a couple of raised eyebrows, which is always good.
The band have a busy summer of festival appearances ahead of them as well as their biggest ever headline show at Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park on August 27th alongside Wolf Alice and Fall Out Boy which should be a real nice time.
