Following the news that We Are The In Crowd are going on hiatus and four-fifths of the band are going on to create a new project, the band have clarified a few points.
“When we set out last year to write the follow up to ‘WEIRD Kids‘, we went into the studio in much smaller numbers, and with a different mindset than we had on a previous releases,” the band explain on Twitter. “The results were something that embodied the ‘spirit’ of WATIC in a lot of ways, but at the same time went against everything that WATIC was and continues to be. Rather than force this new ‘thing’ that had emerged into fitting our expectations were for WATIC LP3, we decided we were better off being true to ourselves and our fans and giving this new ‘thing’ an identity of it’s own for all of you to embrace of ignore without compromising the history or the future of WATIC.
“Too often we see bands make a sharp turn creatively and philosophically without considering the piece of their band that belongs to the fans- as hard as it might be to understand this is our way of dong right by you all. We’ve opted for the road less travelled here.
“So if you clicked this to get an update on WATIC – this would be it,” they continue. “I don’t see any reason why there wouldn’t be more WATIC material on the horizon, as long as you guys want it we’ll eventually get around to creating it…but it needs to feel right, and right now it still doesn’t. Thank you to everyone that has supported our band since day 1, hopefully we’ve had the kind of impact on each of your lives that you’ve had on all of ours. I know you might be bummed out but we promise-this isn’t goodbye, it’s BRB (zing).”

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows though as drummer Rob Chianelli has announced he won’t be taking part in the new project, despite drumming on their first record.
Hope this clears up any confusion about my role moving forward…love you all! pic.twitter.com/iAIrlUJECi
