The Menzingers have confirmed work on the followup to 2014’s ‘Rented World’ has begun via a post on Instagram.
Ahead of their performance at Reading Festival, vocalist and guitarist Tom May was already getting the creative itch for a new album. “Like we should write some new songs, that’s how I feel,” he told Upset. “It’s always fun to play [Rented World] and we give everything we can to do it, but it would definitely be nice to have some new songs to play live and we’re writing right now so we’ll see what happens.”
“Writing on the road comes in bursts for sure,” he explains. “And you don’t want to spend a lot of time sitting down and writing songs when you’re in Munich, I want to see Munich. So when we’re in the States and playing the same places over and over again, it’s easier to write.”
However the band do admit that they write best “when we’re at home and we have sectioned off time,” which is understandable. The band are from Philadelphia and, as we explored recently, there’s something special about that city.
In a few weeks guitarist/vocalist Greg Barnett is taking a short break from The Menzingers duty to undertake a solo tour of the UK alongside his brother and Captain, We’re Sinking member Bobby. The dates are as follows.
