It’s fair to say the first couple of weeks of this year’s Vans Warped Tour have been a little, er, controversial. Nevertheless, the annual punk-rock summer camp’s safe-space credentials have been upped today with the news that Buddy Nielsen, frontman of Senses Fail, is to host LGBTQ discussions on the tour.
In association with Punk Out – an organisation which aims to raise awareness and education of LGBTQ issues within the punk scene – Buddy will be hosting sessions under the title ‘What Needs To Be Done?’. Punk Out state that these discussions should “help bring about the change our scene needs to ensure the safety and inclusion of all its members. We hope these discussions can help educate members of the scene, and make the tour, and the scene in general, a safe, comfortable space for all genders, races, and identities.”
The following Warped dates are hosting said discussions – if you’re Stateside and want to go along, email firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP.
