The rights to much of The Offspring’s back catalogue have been bought for a reported $35 million.
New York-based rights company Round Hill has completed a deal which includes all of the material recorded for label Columbia, though Epitaph retains ownerships of early albums including ‘Smash’ and ‘Ignition’. It’s not clear if ‘Ixnay on the Hombre’s European rights are included in the deal – that record was released by Epitaph in Europe but Columbia elsewhere.
“We felt that having the right caretaker for our catalogue, both the masters and the publishing, is incredibly important to the future of our career,” said frontman Dexter Holland. “Round Hill understands that we are continuing to perform and record and that the visibility of our past is critical to our future.”
