Panic! At The Disco are set to headline Slam Dunk’s 10th anniversary next year.
The three leg festival, the Midlands edition of which is moving to a new site at Brimingham’s NEC, will also play host to a bumper line up including Of Mice & Men, New Found Glory, Four Year Strong, Every Time I Die, Issues, Memphis May Fire, Real Friends and over 40 more bands still to be announced.
Panic!’s main man Brendon Urie says “It’s awesome, it’s fucking cool, and I’m very excited. We haven’t actually played it before, but we have friends who have, and have heard it’s awesome! And sure, there’s a little bit of pressure, I’m not gonna lie!”
The dates for Slam Dunk 2016 are:
28 Slam Dunk North, Leeds City Centre
29 Slam Dunk Midlands, Birmingham NEC
30 Slam Dunk South, Hatfield, University of Hertfordshire
Tickets go on sale on Friday (27th November) for £42, or £47 including after show. The festival is for Age 14 + or 18+ for the after show tickets. There’s also a limited Mega Ticket for £150, which grants access to all 3 events and includes after shows, wristband exchange queue jumps and a limited edition t-shirt.
Festival founder & Director, Ben Ray, says “2016 marks the 10th Anniversary of the first Slam Dunk Festival. I had no idea back then what I thought would be a one off event would still be going now, let alone continued to grow to the size it has become.”
Meanwhile, that new Birmingham NEC venue will be the first time a multi-site festival has been held at the legendary arena. Using a mixture of indoor and outdoor stages, it will also mean Slam Dunk Midlands has its own airport. Yep. Makes your fancy yurt field look a bit silly now, doesn’t it?
