Matt Bellamy, the Muse frontman, has invested in a drone racing league. Yup.
According to an interview with the people behind The Drone Racing League Bellamy has contributed some of the $8 million investment to help fund the project. DRL CEO Nick Horbaczewski also thinks their product designer will one day be remembered as “the Leonardo da Vinci” of drone racing so, y’know.
It’s an odd move from Bellamy who is convinced that drones will kill us all, at least if their latest album is to be believed. Maybe he thinks enslaving something and making it race for our entertainment will quell that threat?
From ‘Charles The Robot’ on their stadium tour for The 2nd Law to the promise of flying drones on their upcoming UK arena run, Muse have a history of using robots for their own entertainment. Bastards.
Here’s a video showing the poor robot looking scared, hurt and confused.
