Jack Antonoff has launched a brand new music festival, called Shadow of the City. It will take place on 19th September at the Stone Pony Summerstage in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Headlined by his own band, Bleachers, it will also host sets from The Front Bottoms and Cults.
“I believe in music festivals deeply,” Jack explains. “In a time when everyone is so uncertain of how people should buy, stream and find their music, live music feels more important than ever.
“I’ve spent almost my entire life in New Jersey and there is a hope and anthemic quality that is in the music born there that comes directly from being in the shadows of one of the greatest cities in the world. It’s forever a shitty younger brother.
“Growing up in NJ I didn’t understand how incredible this was. It’s not till later in life that I realize it is at the core of who I am. Someone who grew up in the shadow of the city and always felt less than and used music to create something bigger.
“I want to do this festival for the rest of my life and am so proud of its inaugural year.”
Other acts confirmed to play include Charlie XCX, How To Dress Well, Vic Mensa, Misterwives and Robert Delong. Tickets will go on sale at 10am on Friday 12th June.
Bleachers’ debut album ‘Strange Desire’ will be released on 6th July. They will also playi Calling Festival on 4th July and V festival on 22nd – 23rd August.
