A documentary tribute to the late Lemmy Kilmister will be aired tonight at 9pm on BBC iPlayer.
Lemmy: In His Own Words will compile footage from previous BBC documentaries I’m In A Rock ‘N’ Roll Band and Heavy Metal Britannia alongside live Motörhead appearances from Later…With Jools Holland, The Young Ones and Top of the Pops.
“Lemmy was a colossal figure in British music and he had a unique approach to both his songs and the industry he found himself in,” explains BBC Music editor James Stirling. “There was a smart sense of humour at the heart of everything, something clearly demonstrated through his interviews and performances we’ve uncovered from the BBC Music archive.”
To give you a taste, here’s Motörhead performing ‘Ace Of Spades‘ on Top Of The Pops in 1980. Not sure what the balloons are for, mind.
