They said it was coming, via a sneaky Instagram trick, and now Deftones have shared a brand new track from their imminent eight album ‘Gore‘. Head here to listen to ‘Doomed User’ before its official release tomorrow (17th March).
‘Doomed User’ was debuted live a few weeks back at Travis Barker’s Musink Festival and if you’d also like to hear it played on stage, Deftones have a whole host of live shows coming up. There’s a show at London’s Wembley Arena, a big ol’ slot at Download Festival and a lengthy May US tour alongside a bunch of other festival appearances.
‘Gore’ is out April 8th after originally being penciled in for release in September last year. Speaking recently, guitarist Stephen Carpenter explains the record, “wasn’t the style or the sound I was hoping we would take. It wasn’t what I was expecting or wanting. My band is going one direction and I am going another one currently,” which is, uhh, interesting.
You can hear that tension in ‘Doomer User’ but Deftones still sound like a band, rather than a squabbling mass which is good.
