Parkway Drive bring the weight to Reading’s Mainstage

Posted: Saturday, August 27th, 2016

Metalcore on the main stage of Reading Festival is not something to be sniffed at, especially when Red Hot Chili Peppers and Imagine Dragons are set to follow later. Metalcore. Imagine Dragons. Not the most natural of bedfellows. So Parkway Drive are right to feel the sense of occasion, they’re right to look as chuffed as they do to be there.

‘Destroyer’ sees them grab the attention of Reading by the throat and refuse to let it go. Winston is a showman who commands the attention of those who can hear him, and with endless hands thrust in the air, he rallies them for the set. They’ve got crowds back to the sound desk, and from side-on you see that they’re conducting every inch of it.

Parkway say that they have an obligation to go heavy because the stage leans to the softer side of music once they leave, and they absolutely deliver on their promise. Luckily, Reading were game.
