The Valentine’s Day Mixtape: Petal

Alright Lovers. Being the warm-hearted romantics that we are, we asked our favourite bands to curate five track mix-tapes to celebrate Valentine’s Day (AND THEN WE WROTE SOME NONSENSE TO GO WITH THEM.) some are heart-felt, some are brilliant and some are awful but all are about love. and isn’t that the true spirit of this great holiday? Maybe.

The A-Sides – Diamonds

Don’t settle for the B-Side, always aim to be the A-side in someone’s life. Or something.
Most Romantic Moment: Everyone dreams of diamonds on Valentine’s Day and with this track, you’ll always deliver.
Romantic Rating: ★★★

Whitney Houston – How Will I Know

Nothing screams love like a hearty dose of disco and this Whitney classic is perfect for snapping fingers and spinning arms.
Most Romantic Moment: Clapping in time with the song. Everyone likes someone who can keep a beat.
Romantic Rating: ★★★★

Prince – When You Were Mine

Purple is an overlooked colour for Valentine’s Day but step aside red and pink, Prince is here to deliver a romance shaped arrow straight into the heart. That said, the purple one has removed all his songs from the internet so we’ll have to make do with this cover of a cover.
Most Romantic Moment: Finding the original song.
Romantic Rating: ★★

Dionne Warwick – Message To Michael

Don’t shoot the messenger but maybe buy them some flowers.
Most Romantic Moment: Not asking who Michael us. Jealous, us?
Romantic Rating: ★★★

MGMT – Electric Feel

There’s nothing all that attractive about a position in management but somehow MGMT make the most charming electro ditties. Well done them.
Most Romantic Moment: Electricity. Candles are a fire hazard and no one wants that.
