SWMRS‘ debut album ‘Drive North‘ is out next Friday (12th February) but you can hear the whole glorious thing below, via Rolling Stone.
“I like to think our sound is very modernist, because it was born out of us having every type of music at our fingertips, a luxury that is distinct to our generation,” explains Cole Becker. “It has all the raw emotional energy of teenage power pop with the subwoofing low end of your favorite hip-hop albums.”
“Zac Carper from FIDLAR (who produced the record) is without a doubt a genius in the studio and help us synthesize a sound that’s all our own. It came at a cost, though – his idiosyncrasies played out in various forms of corporal punishment at times. Without going into too much detail, I can tell you that he kept a paddle on hand and that Max (Becker, guitar) is still in therapy for related reasons.”
‘Drive North’ is out February 12th via the band’s own Uncool Records. For more from SWMRS, check out the new issue of Upset.
