Modern Baseball‘s new album ‘Holy Ghost‘ can’t come quickly enough.
To get you even more stoked about the release (as if that was even possible) the band have shared not one, but two new tracks from the record cos half of ‘Holy Ghost’ was written and led by Jake Ewald while the other half was down to Brendan Lukens. You can listen to one from each writer below. Check out ‘Everyday‘ and ‘Apple Cider‘, via NPR, here.
“I have a pretty bad memory. When I manage to remember things from my past (recent or distant), they usually seem insignificant on the surface. Nevertheless, those are the things I remember, and most of the important stuff is forgotten. “Everyday” is a short exhibit of those insignificant memories and an attempt at understanding their importance in my life,” Jake tells NPR.
“Trust is something every growing relationship needs,” starts Brendan. “Without trust, all your conversations are just questions and doubts. I lost my best friend and partner, and didn’t know who to blame. “Apple” is a toast to looking at past mistakes as a chance to move forward.”
“I think (‘Holy Ghost’ is) just the natural progression for us as songwriters,” Brendan told Upset recently. “When we first started touring ‘Sports’ and ‘You’re Gonna Miss It All’, Ian and Sean had just joined full time. Since then we’ve had two heavy touring years to mould into Modern Baseball. We all have our own individual styles and now Modern Baseball has a sound from those. We’re very proud of ‘Holy Ghost’. We were in a challenging situation writing and recording the record while we had so many personal things going on, but we see it as a huge accomplishment for us.”
To celebrate the release, Modern Baseball will be touring HARD. There’s a return to Reading & Leeds, a UK/European tour with PUP and recently announced runs across Australia and a tour of America with Joyce Manor and Thin Lips. Details below, via handy, handy poster.
