Dinosaur Pile-Up’s Neverland 2016 time capsule playlist
THIS SUMMER, A SECRET LOCATION NEAR KENT WILL HOST THE VERY FIRST EDITION OF LEEFEST PRESENTS: THE NEVERLAND. WITH A FEW MONTHS STILL TO GO, ITS LINE UP ALREADY BOASTS VANT, DEMOB HAPPY, SPRING KING, EVERYTHING EVERYTHING AND MANY MANY MORE. TO CELEBRATE THEIR EXCURSION INTO THE LAND WHERE NO ONE GROWS UP, DINOSAUR PILE-UP (ALSO ON THE LINE UP, FYI) HAVE PUT TOGETHER THEIR OWN TIME CAPSULE PLAYLIST, FEATURING ALL THE RECORDS THEY WANT TO TAKE WITH THEM (AND SOME OF UPSET’S FAVOURITE BANDS).
Weezer – Buddy Holly
We’ve been listening to Weezer since forever, and we’ve recently just got back from tour with them which was awesome. We all love their sound and sight them as one of our most prominent influences. Me and Mike even met at a party because of the Blue Album.
Deftones – Hexagram
Really this could be any Deftones track. We’ve listened to all of their records, and they’re still putting out great records. We have a lot of respect for that band and their integrity as artists.
Foo Fighters – Enough Space
Not that we’re really up to date with where the Foo’s are at these days, we still slam those two first records. And the heavier side of them is where we tend to hang out. This song in particular is a favourite of ours.
Fidlar – Cheap Beer
Because it’s fun, and it doesn’t give a f***, and well…why the hell not. We love Fidlar’s vibe, and we get it. We toured with them a couple of years ago, but even before that we were seriously into their rad punk energy.
Kurt Vile – Pretty Pimpin
This is the track we play most in the van when we’re coming down from a show or just waking up. I love it’s easy vibe. Great groove and melody. If I was lying on a beach alone forever I would be happy playing this song on repeat.
Death From Above 1979 – Right On, Frankenstein!
Opposite end of the scale, this is for when we’re pumped! We’ve always been huuuuge fans of DFA1979. They’re just a genuinely individual and unique band. Original and above all, kick ass.
Brand New – Sowing Season
Some of our dearest tour friends, is the whole entire Brand New family. Just such an awesome bunch of people, many happy memories of being on the road with these guys and this song is that one song that reminds us of that. It’s also a huge, huge song.
Rage Against The Machine – Born Of A Broken Man
Because it’s RAGE and it f***in rules. Probably one of DPU’s favourite all time riffs. Still nobody’s made something so simple sound so f***ing great. When we slam this in the van there is a universal silence of appreciation and involuntary headbang.
Smashing Pumpkins – Zero
There’s not much that’s more badass than hearing Billy Corgan snarling ‘wanna go for a ride’ when you’re driving through Europe or the USA on some shit road in the middle of nowhere. He may look like some sort of alien that’s disguised as an egg, and he may have a few screws loose up there – but man does he know how to f***ing shred.
Nirvana – Drain You
Because whether I’m writing a list of songs that we couldn’t live without, or whether I’m writing my freaking shopping list – it ends in this song. Everybody shut the fuck up, and crank the volume.
LeeFest Presents: The Neverland will take place from 28th – 30th July in a secret location near Kent. Find out more at leefest.org.
